We look forward to welcoming you to Barrack Cottage, the fourth of our Open Gardens in the 2023 programme. This is a downland chalk garden with rooms divided by flint walls, covering an area of 4.5 acres including a woodland walk. As part of the Queen’s Green Canopy, 206 trees have been planted at Barrack Cottage creating Barrack Wood and blessed with Holy Water. East Sussex managed to plant or encourage planting over 100,000 trees in total.
For directions, take the A259 through Seaford towards Newhaven. At the base of the hill take a right hand turn into Bishopstone and follow the Open Garden signs where you will find off road parking.
The gardens are open in all weather, and entry is by donation. The Friends volunteers will be selling tickets for the raffle, and manning refreshment stalls. Dogs, unfortunately, are not allowed at the Open Gardens.
