Opening our Open Garden 2023 season is the spectacular Carters Corner Farm, containing a large country garden and attached smallholding. The south facing garden comprises of a formal parterre with white roses, large borders with mixed planting, a formal rose garden and a white wisteria walk, and this all sets off a small lake with ornamental bridge, pavilion and jetty. The remaining park-like garden has mature trees and a new Ornamental Pear avenue which leads to a pretty 8-acre woodland. There is a large vegetable garden and surrounding orchard adjacent to paddocks with a few ponies, alpacas and an elderly goat. There are several seating areas around the land, some with distant views to the Downs.
For directions, take the A22 to Boship roundabout and turn right onto the A271 towards Bexhill. At Amberstone turn left towards Cowbeech and follow the open garden signs. Off road parking is available.
The gardens are open in all weather, and entry is by donation. The Friends volunteers will be selling tickets for the raffle, and manning refreshment stalls. Dogs, unfortunately, are not allowed at the Open Gardens.
