Each year the Friends make Christmas donations to the wards which are working on Christmas Day, for use at each ward’s own discretion. These donations regularly go towards gifts for patients, ward decorations, staff and patient wellbeing, or festive food and drink to keep Christmas spirits up on the day. We received this feedback from the Community Nursing Team, “The patients we visit this year on Xmas morning will receive a gift bag containing hand soap, hand cream and some chocolate. For some patients the nursing staff are the only person they see on xmas morning and to be able to give them a little something is really humbling, especially when they are rewarded with a smile. We wouldn’t be able to do this without the support from the Friends at Eastbourne Hospitals. Many Thanks for your ongoing support.”, and this from the Matron of the Scott Unit, “Thank you so much for providing some food and gifts to be shared with patients and staff on Scott Unit over Christmas. We are so lucky that there are people so willing to help us improve the care we provide to children and families.”
