Open Gardens 2025: Kitchenham Farm

Open again to the Friends for the first time in years, this garden has a wide panoramic vista of the Downs, with its colourful borders and haha overlooking meadows and Sussex countryside.

For directions, take the A22 to Boship roundabout and turn right onto the A271 towards Bexhill. Continue straight through Herstmonceux, Windmill Hill and Boreham Street. Shortly after this turn left into Kitchenham Road (signposted Battle) and look for the Open Garden sign on the left. (Alternatively, from Eastbourne, at the Pevensey roundabout take the road to Herstmonceux, then turn right and follow the route from Boreham Street.) Off-road parking.

The gardens are open in all weather, and entry is by donation. The Friends volunteers will be selling tickets for the raffle, and manning refreshment stalls. We do offer contactless payments, although with a sometimes unreliable signal, cash is always advised to avoid disappointment. Dogs, unfortunately, are not allowed at the Open Gardens.
