Saturday 17 September

Open Garden

***We can confirm that, although we are in the period of national mourning, this Open Garden will still be taking place. We welcome and encourage all to come for  company and contemplation ahead of the Queen’s funeral on Monday 19th***

We look forward to welcoming you to Folkington Place, the final Open Garden in our 2022 programme. For directions, From the A27 towards Lewes take the third left into Folkington. Follow the open garden signs where you will find off-road parking. The gardens are open in all weather, and entry is by donation. The Friends volunteers will be selling tickets for the raffle, and manning refreshment stalls. We will be joined at 2pm by the Ukeholics for a live performance of ukulele music to accompany the afternoon.

Equally fascinating, and accessible in the same location, is Folkington Church, where the graveyard is the resting place of Elizabeth David CBE, celebrated cookery writer and whose interesting tombstone features the tools of her trade. Do pay a visit.

Although Folkington Place can be accessed by a walk across the Downs which people do sometimes do with their dogs, we regret that dogs are not allowed at the Open Garden, and neither will it be possible to leave them outside the venue.
