Birthday, get well, sympathy, new home, greetings and thank you cards are collected and remade throughout the year. Easter and Christmas cards are collected during the 6 week period following the event.
POSTAGE STAMPS AND POSTCARDS
All and any kinds of stamps are collected and sold to dealers, private buyers and via Eastbourne Auctions, who are supporters of the FoEH. Please do not remove stamps from postcards, which are sold separately.
PLASTIC MILK BOTTLE TOPS (clean)
These are recycled by FoEH volunteers John and Mary and are made into everyday items such as dustbins and children’s play equipment. They can ONLY RECYCLE MILK BOTTLE TOPS as other bottle tops are not made of the same type of plastic.
SILK FLOWERS AND FLOWER BASKETS
Flower shop volunteers provide a Florist’s service to the people of Eastbourne, as well as to the staff and patients of the Eastbourne DGH, producing beautiful arrangements – flower baskets are ideal and if they are free, so much the better! Silk flower arrangements are very popular so your donation will be used to give someone pleasure.
NEW GIFT ITEMS/UNWANTED PRESENTS
New gifts are sold at our Summer and Christmas fairs. We do not have a bric-a-brac stall so are unable to take used items.
We also welcome donations of wines and spirits and chocolates etc.
SILVER, JEWELLERY & BAGS
Jeanette and June, sell donated items of silver and jewellery on their stall at the summer and Christmas fairs. They will take any items including broken watches and costume jewellery. Eastbourne Auctions support the ladies by auctioning the more valuable items and selling bags to collectors.
Ann and Bruce, who run the book stall, are happy to collect donations of hardback or paperback books. However, sometimes they have too many to store so we may suggest that you donate them to another worthy cause or keep hold of them until we have space to take them.
